Although many other forms of martial arts are practiced all over the world, such as judo, karate, tae kwon do, etc. The Ninjutsu style was developed from a unique culture. It is was exclusive to the eastern region of the Japanese main island of Honshou, particularly in the Koga/Kyoto area. It was here, in the heart of what is known as “Ninja Country”, that these warriors had aspired to become a favored instrument of clandestine activities in the region.
The Ninja had used a wide variety of weapons in their activities. These weapons allowed the Ninja to gain an advantage in combat situations with their opponents. Many of these weapons are still used today, but only as novelty items or for training equipment. Located below, are some examples of these weapons:

Bo: A long wooden staff, generally six to ten feet in length, of various wood types. The Bo was an important tool for the Ninja, for both training and mission purposes. They were mostly made of solid wood, although there were some that were hollow in places. This allowed for a variety of things to be concealed within the empty space.

Hanbo: A short wooden staff, about three feet in length. Good for training and close combat situations.

Katana: A sword favored by the samurai. Many Katana were high quality swords made of layered steel. They were generally six feet in length, and razor-sharp. The end of the blade was often slightly bent, to better absorb blows and cut more effectively.

Wakizashi: A side-arm sword of the samurai and sometimes the ninja used it as well. It is shorter than the katana, only about two and a half feet long. It was worn as a companion sword to the katana.

Shuriken: Small, star-shaped pieces of metal used as projectiles.
